Exercises With Energy
Sensing one’s own energy field is an individual experience and may take a little
practice. The more open we are, the easier it will be for us to perceive it. Skeptics
often have a difficult time with this because their higher auric levels are not as
developed as their lower physical auric levels. However, regular practice, whether
you feel it or not, will bring greater awareness and changes in perception.
In this exercise, we learn that we can project energy using our thoughts and our
hands. There are energy or "chakra" points in the palms of our hands and energy
emanates very strongly there.
Spend a few moments in deep focused breathing. If possible, imagine a beautiful
nature scene as you turn your attention inward. This is called centering and it
releases pent-up tensions while increasing overall energy levels. When you feel
relaxed and the distractions have slipped away, proceed.
Begin by rubbing the palms of your hands together for about 15-30 seconds to
activate the palm chakras and increase their sensitivity. Hold your arms out in front
of you, palms facing each other at about a foot apart.
Slowly bring your palms toward each other, as close as you can without touching.
Then, slowly draw them apart to about six inches. Repeat this in and out movement
slowly and steadily. This allows the energy surrounding and emanating from your
palms to accumulate, making it more perceptible.
Pay attention to what you feel or sense with your hands. You may feel warmth or
a tingling sensation. You may have a sense of pressure building between your
hands. It may feel like opposite ends of magnets as they repel each other, or like
a billowing cloud.
Take some time to define what you experience. Don’t worry about whether you’re
just imagining it or not. Don’t think about it – simply feel it. This exercise develops
concentration and helps confirm that our energy fields do not stop at our skin. It also
helps you to define your own energy radiation.
Play with this energy between your hands. Shape it into a ball and move it around.
Make it bigger – then make it smaller. If it gets too warm, think about cool blue
flowing water and see what happens. If it feels too cold, think about warm yellow
sunshine.
With practice, you can control the intensity and the flow of energy through your
hands simply with thought and intent. Try sending warmth and loving energy to
your house plants every day for a week. They’ll flourish with this attention and,
in turn, will share their energy with you.
Another simple exercise to try - Find an ordinary outdoor thermometer that is easy
to read. Make a note of the temperature reading. Either hold it in your hands or
stand it up and place your hands an inch or so away from it.
Do deep-focused breathing and centering. Get a sense of the energy building
between your hands. When you feel ready, proceed.
Focus your attention on your palms. Picture in your mind, the color red and think
about warming red rays streaming from your hands into the thermometer.
It may also help to think in cycles – breathe in universal life energy – breathe out
warmth through your hands. Continue deep breathing and focusing as long as it
takes to raise the temperature on the thermometer. This may take several minutes
or so to move it even one or two degrees. Don’t despair. Practice really does make
perfect.
When you have mastered raising the temperature in the thermometer, try lowering
it by sending cool blue energy. It may help to picture water or even an icy winter
scene.
Have fun with these exercises. They show that you can change the energy
emanations from your hands simply by focusing your thoughts.
